Biography:
Michael David Fuller was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Dowling Catholic High School. As a young man he was a member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church and worked as a carpenter before joining the service. Fuller joined the Army in 1965 and trained as an infantryman. He was sent to South Vietnam in October 1967 with the 173rd Airborne. PVT Fuller died just under three months into his tour. He was killed on December 27, 1967 while fighting the enemy in a landing zone. The 19-year-old’s body was returned to Des Moines and buried at the Glendale Cemetery by his parents.
