Biography:
Michael Kevin Maloney was born in Afton, IL. As a young man he married a woman from the Quad Cities, where he made his home. Maloney joined the Army and achieved the rank of Captain. He was sent to Vietnam in October 1970 as an advisor to the South Vietnamese military in the Kien Hoa Province. CAPT Maloney was killed on February 25, 1971 while a passenger on a military vehicle when it hit a mine north of Ben Tre, South Vietnam. Family remembered Maloney as someone who “loved and respected” his mother, father, wife, and son. He was 25 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois.
