Michael Lee Ewing

Michael Lee Ewing of Independence enlisted in the Marine Corps. PVT Ewing began his tour in Vietnam in January 1968 serving with the 3rd Marine Division. He was fatally wounded on June 11, 1968 while involved in a firefight with enemy forces near the Khe Sanh Airfield during the Battle of Khe Sanh. The 21-year-old was buried at the Readstown Cemetery in Wisconsin.
