Michael Maurice O'Connor

Michael Maurice O’Connor was a member of the first class to be graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School in 1963 and a 1967 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa. O’Connor attended Marine Officers School in Quantico, VA before deploying to Vietnam. He had been overseas for 11 months at the time of his death. 1LT O’Connor died June 4, 1969 by fragmentation wounds received from a hostile grenade. His service was held at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.
