Biography:
Michael Raymond Munch’s hometown was Council Bluffs. He was drafted into the Army and began his tour in Vietnam in March 1969. He served as a Scout with the Americal Division. Munch was stationed in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. He was killed on March 13, 1969 from multiple fragmentation wounds sustained from an enemy mortar attack southwest of Binh Son. The 20-year-old’s body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Council Bluffs. He was posthumously promoted to Corporal.
