Biography:
Paul David Carson was farming with his father near Leland when he was drafted in December 1968. He was a 1964 graduate of Forest City High School and a 1966 graduate of Waldorf College. He trained as an infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division and arrived in Vietnam in June 1969. He was based near Danang when he died from a land mine explosion on March 15, 1970. SGT Carson was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. He was survived by his wife and was buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Forest Citiy.
