Biography:
Randall Lee Farlow was born in Iowa City and grew up in Booneville. He attended Van Meter High School and graduated from Winterset High School in the class of 1967. After graduation he joined the Army and was sent to Vietnam in January 1968. PFC Farlow was stationed near Danang and served as a supply truck driver. He was killed on Tuesday, September 17, 1968 while leaving a supply base when hit by hostile fire. Seven other American soldiers were killed during the firefight. The 19-year-old’s body was buried at the Winterset City Cemetery.
