Biography:
Randy Lee Fisher of Webster City joined the Marine Corps before graduating high school. Fisher’s father consented to his early enlistment. Friends and family described Fisher as someone eager to fight for his country and as someone protective of his family. After training he was sent to Southeast Asia in August 1970 as a rifleman with the 1st Marine Division. The circumstances of his death are not clear. The military ruled PFC Fisher’s death an accidental homicide. He was killed three weeks into his tour on October 1, 1970. Randy Fisher was 19 years old at the time of his death and he left behind a young wife. His body was returned ot Iowa and buried at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
