Biography:
Raymond Hensley grew up in Des Moines. After graduation, he joined the Army and became a Huey air gunner with the 175th Assault Helicopter Company. He went to Vietnam in October 1967. Sergeant Hensley was on a mission near Moc Hoa Air Base in Kien Tuong Province on May 17, 1968 when his aircraft was hit and crashed. The entire crew was killed and their bodies were extracted five days later. Hensley was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
