Reid William Stoltenberg

Reid William Stolenberg of Bettendorf joined the Marine Corps in 1966. LCPL Stolenberg served with the 3rd Marine Division as a Rifleman. He was killed on March 24, 1967 while on a patrol in Quang Tri Province. Another American patrol mistook LCPL Stolenberg and PFC Shuh, of Missouri, for the enemy and open fired. Both Marines were killed in the friendly fire incident. His body was buried in a family plot at Rock Island National Cemetery in Illinois. He was 24 years old at the time of his death.
