Richard Joseph Payne

Richard Joseph Payne of Quasqueton was employed at Wilson’s Rubbish Hauling Inc. located in Cedar Rapids before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He arrived in Vietnam on November 19, 1967. PFC Payne was killed a month into his tour suffering gunshot wounds to his head and body while on patrol near Quang Nam. He died on his 20th birthday. A funeral service was held at Union Church in Quasqueton and his body was buried at Quasqueton Cemetery.
