Biography:
Richard Lee Cullen graduated Corydon High School in 1956. He joined the Marine Corps the year he graduated high school. Following his term with the Marines, Cullen enlisted in the Army in 1963. 1LT Cullen was deployed to South Vietnam in September 1967 with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry “Wolfhounds” as an infantry unit commander. His wife and two sons resided in Moline, IL while he was deployed. On February 2, 1968, during the Tet Offensive, 1LT Cullen was killed by multiple fragmentation wounds sustained during a firefight with hostile forces. His body was buried at Rock Island National Cemetery. Cullen was 28 years old at the time of his death.
