Robert Allen Wennes

Robert Allen Wennes grew up on a farm near Spring Grove, Minnesota. After high school he entered the Marine Corps in September 1966 and deployed to Vietnam in February, 1967. He served with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in Quang Nam Province. Lance Corporal Wennes was killed on December 2nd by hostile fire while on a search and destroy mission. He was buried at the family’s home parish, Highland Lutheran Cemetery, across the state border in Iowa.
