Biography:
Robert “Bob” Dale Farnham grew up in Algona and graduated from Algona High School in the class of 1967. While in school he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He briefly attended Iowa State University in Ames. Farnham joined the Army in July 1968. He received his training at Fort Bliss, TX and Fort Sill, OK. SGT Farnham started a 12 month tour in May 1969. In Vietnam he was stationed near the Cambodian border in the Chau Doc Province. He was killed on January 14, 1970 from injuries inflicted by an enemy rocket attack on his base. SGT Farnham was 20 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Albert Lea, MN.
