Robert Donald Letsch Jr

Robert Donald Letsch Jr. graduated Cedar Falls High School in 1966 and attended Mason City Junior College before enlisting in the Marine Corps. LCPL Letsch arrived in South Vietnam in February 1968 during the height of the Tet Offensive. He was killed in action by a high explosive while on patrol with his unit on July 17, 1968 at the age of 19 years old. He had just returned from an R & R leave in Taipei, Taiwan at the time of his death. A service was held for LCPL Letsch at the Nazareth Lutheran Church and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.
