Robert Ivan Klootwyk

Robert Klootwyk graduated from Knoxville High School in 1966 and enlisted in the Marine Corps. After basic training he completed a language course at the linguist school at Monterey before deploying to Vietnam. He served with the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment. He was killed by a sniper bullet which hit him in the abdomen while on patrol near Phu Baie in Thua Thien Province. Lance Corporal Klootwyk was buried in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.
