Biography:
Davenport native Robert J. Voss served in the Army and achieved the rank of Captain. He was sent to South Vietnam in March 1965 as an advisor to the South Vietnamese military. While on a training exercise CPT Voss and his South Vietnamese counterparts were ambushed by enemy forces. He was fatally wounded on July 8, 1965 in the Tay Ninh Province, South Vietnam. Three other Americans were killed during the encounter. Voss was 33 years old and married at the time of his death.
