Robert Taylor Jones Jr

Robert Taylor Jones Jr. of Des Moines attended East High School before enlisting in the Army in April 1967. After training PFC Jones was sent to Vietnam in September 1968, serving as an infantryman with the 25th Infantry Division. On November 14, 1968 PFC Jones was among 5 killed when his vehicle struck a mine along Highway 14 in South Vietnam. He was 18 years old at the time of his death. Private Jones’ body was buried at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
