Biography:
Roger Cloyce Beall grew up in Moorhead. After high school he joined the 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 133rd Infantry, known as the Red Bulls, of the Iowa Army National Guard headquartered in Sioux City. The ‘2nd Mech’ was determined essential for Vietnam service and, after training in the Loess Hills, 385 members of the unit were deployed through Fort Carson in late 1968. SGT Roger Beall’s tour in Vietnam started December 19, 1968. He was killed in a fire fight near Cai Ley on January 27, 1969. Roger Beall was survived by his wife and was buried in Spring Valley Cemetery in Moorhead.
