Biography:
Ronald Dell Bunting was raised an only child in rural Corning. He graduated from Corning High School and attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO. A few days after his 22nd birthday, he was drafted by the Army. Bunting was sent to South Vietnam in January 1968. He served as an infantryman in the 11th Infantry, Americal Division. PFC Bunting was in Southeast Asia for less than one month when he was killed. He died of gunshot wounds inflicted when an enemy force was encountered in the Quang Ngai Province. The 22-year-old’s body was laid to rest at the Oakhills Cemetery in his hometown of Corning.
