Biography:
Ronald Emery Clark was raised in Indianola and made Des Moines his home with his wife. He was drafted by the Army and was sent to Vietnam in November 1967. PFC Clark served as an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, also known as the Blackhorse. He was killed on May 14, 1968 during a firefight with the enemy in the Binh Duong Province, South Vietnam. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for merit. The 22-year-old’s body was buried at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Indianola.
