Biography:
Ronald Embree grew up in Thurman and attended Fremont-Mills High School where he was a popular athlete. He joined the Army and joined the Americal Division in Vietnam in September 1969. After several months of difficult patrols, his unit was pulled from this assignment to provide security for road engineers. In a letter home he welcomed the change as it would mean easy duty for several weeks. SP4 Embree was killed when a booby trap in the road detonated. He is buried in the Sidney Cemetery.
