Biography:
Ronald Ivan Buchanan grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1963. He joined the Iowa Army National Guard and served with the 2nd Mechanized Battalion, 133rd Infantry. He took officer training while working at a auto body restoration business. His tour in Vietnam started May 17, 1969. He was a unit commander with the 7th Infantry, Americal Division. His death came from the denotation of a daisy-chain booby trap while on patrol near Saigon. He was married with a son and was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
