Stephen Craig Briese

Correctionville native Stephen Craig Briese was drafted by the Army and sent to South Vietnam in June 1970. He served as an infantryman with the 1st Cavalry Division. PFC Briese was killed on August 8, 1970 when his nighttime defensive position came under attack by enemy forces in the Long Khanh Province. He was posthumously promoted to Corporal. The 19-year-old’s body was buried at the City Cemetery in Correctionville.
