Biography:
Terrance Hastings Griffey attended St. Edmond High School in Fort Dodge and was remembered for his academic and athletic achievements. He played football for the Air Force Academy before going to Vietnam. On May 26, 1966, while piloting an F-4 Phantom he was shot down 10 miles northeast of Qui Nhon, South Vietnam. The aircraft burst into flames and crashed, presumably killing Griffey. His remains were never recovered from the crash site. The Air Force listed Griffey as missing in action and later changed his status to presumed dead.
