Biography:
Terry Franklin Leazer was born in Corydon and moved to Seymour as a boy. Leazer graduated from the Seymour school district in the class of 1965. He joined the Navy the following year and was sent to South Vietnam in early May 1967. Engineman Leazer was assigned to a river patrol boat or PBR with Task Force 116 in the Mekong Delta. Two weeks into his deployment Leazer was killed in action. His PBR was on a normal patrol on the Ham Luong River when enemy force opened fired from a concealed position on a river island. Leaver and three other Americans were killed in the May 24 attack. He was 20 years old at the time of his death. His body was returned to Iowa and buried at the Shriver Cemetery a few miles west of Seymour.
