Biography:
Thomas Joseph Murphy, father of three and Waterloo native, was killed on March 21, 1967 at the age of 28. 1LT Murphy had recently been promoted by the Armywhen he was killed during Operation Junction City. He trained at Fort Benning, GA before deploying to Vietnam in January 1967. A funeral was held at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and he was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
