Biography:
Thomas Paul Frank of Remsen was a member of the Navy and served as a commander of a bombing squad on the USS <i>Oriskany</i>. On November 1, 1971 his plane crashed in the Gulf of Tonkin during takeoff from the aircraft carrier. The crash was later found to be caused by defective nose struts on his plane that were made of weak metal. His body was recovered and brought to Hartford, CA where a funeral service was held. Mass was also said at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. CMDR Frank was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, VA. He left behind a wife and two sons.
