Biography:
Waldo Williams grew up in several small communities in Calhoun County. He graduated from Rockwell City High School and entered the Army in 1952. Staff Sergeant Williams made the military his career and was deployed to Vietnam in July 1969 to serve with the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry. On January 4, 1970 he was killed while riding as an observer while on a reconnaissance mission in Phuoc Long. The helicopter crash was due to non-hostile factors. Williams was married and buried in the Niskayuna Reformed Cemetery in Latham, New York.
