Biography:
William Allen Ives was born in 1949. The Council Bluffs native served in the Marine Corps with the Company A, 9th Marines in the 3rd Marine Division. He died from a sniper’s bullet during the 1968 Battle of Khe Sanh. PFC Ives was unmarried and had two brothers serving in the armed forces. His remains were recovered from South Vietnam and returned to Iowa. His body was buried at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs.
