Biography:
William E. Leamon grew up in Davenport and graduated from Central High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 1967 and started his tour in Vietnam in September. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment based in Thua Thien. Private First Class Leamon’s unit fought in Hue during the Tet Offensive in 1968 where he was killed by hostile fire. He was buried in the Rock Island Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.
