Biography:
Woodroe Warren Warth was born in Burlington and raised in rural Henry County. He graduated from New London High School in the class of 1964. Warth graduated from the U.S. Trade School in Kansas City in the class of 1965 as an automotive technician. Upon returning to his hometown he joined the Army. He completed his training at Fort Leonard Wood and was sent to South Vietnam in March 1968. 1LT Warth served in the 11th Armored Cavalry as a unit commander. He was killed on May 8, 1968 when his unit was attacked by the enemy. The 1st Lieutenant provided covering fire while his men flanked the attacking force. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for Heroism in recognition of his actions under fire. Warth was 21 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at the Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union. He left behind his parents and five siblings
